Hence consists of a multicultural society all throughout, as they were more invaded than the heart of the country. As a result many traditions and customs, different cultures, religions and nationalities inhabit the area.

Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay is a small land with a single narrow road running parallel to the southern coast. It’s a land renowned for surfing. The months with best winds are July to August.

Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa is the largest fishing village in the Southern Coast, which is a major tourist attraction, being small the Coral Sanctuary and its night life is the most iconic about the village.

Nilavelli

Nilavelli is a very beautiful beach in the East coast. Although less inter active than the Southern beaches it is the most silent, reserved beach ideal for honeymoons and divers.

Pasikudah

Pasikudah in the east coast is a long beach with a golden shoreline parallel to the sea. The beach ecosystem is of a number of tropical fish and coral reefs.

Unawatuna

Unawatuna is a famous Southern coast beach which is a big tourist destination; the crescent shaped golden sandy beach is one of the most romantic beaches in the country, ideal for honeymoons.

Negombo

Negombo the most famous beach in the island is located in the west coast, few minutes away from the Bandaranaike International Airport. The land thrives from fishery and its beautiful beach.

Kalkuda

Kalkuda is a north western beach, which is a popular coastal resort town. Unlike Pasikuda the Kalkuda beach is more remote and very less active but ideal for a peaceful beachy day.
